At The Eric Whitehead Partnership we offer the highest level of legal services to our clients. Eric W B Whitehead started the firm in the 1950s as a sole practitioner. The firm has its offices in the Staffordshire market town of Cheadle and has four Directors, Nicolas John, Timothy Halliday BA (Hons), Nicholas J John BA (Hons) and Elizabeth Collins LLB (Hons). The Directors are assisted by Olivia Hargreaves LLB (Hons) and the firm’s Conveyancing Executive, Kevin J Bowden.

    A graduate of Durham University, Timothy Halliday is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales and is the Head of the firm’s Family Law and Conveyancing Departments.

    Timothy qualified as a Solicitor in 1985 having undertaken his training at a firm in Stoke on Trent. Timothy joined the Cheadle branch of Eric Whitehead & Co in 1987 and was made a Partner in 1992.

    Timothy specialises in all areas of Family Law, from Divorce and Ancillary Relief applications, through to Children Act and Adoption applications. He has been an Advanced Member of the Law Society’s Family Law Panel since 2002 and is a Member of Resolution (formerly known as the Solicitors Family Law Association).

    Timothy is also an experienced conveyancer and is an expert in Employment Law, having particular experience of Compromise Agreements. Timothy has recently received an award of “outstanding legal practice” from The Good Lawyer Guide.

    Nicholas James John, the firm’s Managing Director, undertook his training contract with the Newcastle under Lyme branch of Eric Whitehead & Co between 1996 and 1998.

    Upon qualifying as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in June 1998, Nicholas’ legal career has included four years working in the City of London for firms specialising in often high value Defendant Professional Negligence claims. Nicholas has also worked for large commercial litigation firms in Manchester and in Stoke on Trent.

    Nicholas joined The Eric Whitehead Partnership in November 2003 and was made a Partner in 2004 and a Director in 2005. He was appointed Managing Director in 2009. Nicholas specialises in Private client work including Wills and Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications.

    Nicholas is a trained journalist and also has an Honours degree in Economics. Nicholas has recently received an award of “outstanding legal practice” from The Good Lawyer Guide.

    Elizabeth Collins obtained her Law Degree from Exeter University in 2007. This was quickly followed by a Masters Degree in International and Comparative Public Law, again from Exeter.

    Elizabeth then took her Legal Practice Course at Plymouth University, passing with a Commendation in 2009.

    Elizabeth joined The Eric Whitehead Partnership in 2009 and was admitted as a Solicitor in August 2011. She specialises in Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Family Law matters. Elizabeth is an Associate Member of Solicitors for the Elderly.

    Kevin Joseph Bowden joined Eric Whitehead & Co in 1976 having previously worked for firms in Manchester and Stoke on Trent as a general litigator and as a conveyancer.

    Kevin is now the firm’s Conveyancing Executive and he also has experience of Landlord and Tenant matters.
